Lesson: Note Making

Note making is one of the important parts in the IGCSE examinations. It is the practice of recording information from different sources and platforms. Exercise 3 of Paper is a reading task, where a short passage is given and students are asked to make notes on it under the headings given. Students need to be very careful to ensure that you’re writing the correct points under the headingsFirst, read the heading given in the question. It will be the best course of action and it will tell what information need to find from the passage and copy it into your answer. 


Importance of Note Making!

1. Record the essence of the information by freeing our mind from having to recall everything. 

2.  It helps to learn information to your exams in an executive way.

3.  Note making enable students to identify the key ideas of the lessons and help them to learn and understand better.

4. It also helps to understand what you are learning in order to form independent opinion.

Time management!

·      For the core paper 1, spend about 10 minutes on this question.

·      For the extended paper 2, spend 12 minutes on this question.

Tips on Note Making!

  1. Write down the points under each heading.
  2. Do not write in full sentences.
  3. You can copy the text as it is from the passage.
  4. No marks will be deducted for spelling/punctuation/grammar errors.
Write one point per line given. Thus, all points that you could write do not have to be written.
